A versatile multi-instrumentalist, Brandon Ilaw recently finished a two-year fellowship as percussionist in Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect. As a solo percussionist, he won second prize in the 2014 TROMP International Percussion Competition in The Netherlands and has appeared as concerto soloist with Asko|Schönberg, Orchestra of Indian Hill, and the Boston Conservatory Orchestra. He has toured The Netherlands, Germany, France, and the U.S. with various orchestras and chamber ensembles. In New York City, Brandon enjoys an eclectic freelance life, including residencies and workshops with the New York Theatre Workshop and New York Musical Festival, where he has served as music director, pianist, guitarist, and world percussionist. In addition to performing, he serves as a dance accompanist at The Ailey School and AMDA. Brandon holds a bachelor of music from the Boston Conservatory, where he was awarded the Arthur B. Whitney Award for highest academic rank, and a master’s of music from The Juilliard School, where he was the recipient of the William Schuman Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership.
